Om Kanchan Burathoki

Kanchan is an artist from Kathmandu, who works primarily with text in her practice. She completed her M.F.A of Fine Art from Valand Academy in June 2015. Between 2009 and 2013, she worked as freelance writer, journalist and illustrator in Kathmandu.

Kanchan is interested in using text in written, visual and spoken forms as ways of sharing, telling stories and speaking out. Her MFA thesis was an autobiographical work that explored socio-cultural and political and challenges of being raised by a single and divorced mother within a patriarchal social and legal structure such as Nepal's.

She blogs at www.kanchang.wordpress.com and currently, lives and works in Gothenburg, Sweden.
