Apply as an Exchange Student

Students studying Fine Arts, Photography and Film are welcome to apply for exchange at the Valand Academy. Priority is given to applicants from schools that have an exchange agreement with the Valand Academy. Minimun studies prior to exchange is one year at BA level. 

As an exchange student, you will be assigned to a tutor who will help you to plan your exchange at the Valand Academy. The school will also give you access to different workshops.

Due to the course structure we will not be able to accept students that during their exchange will study the corresponding of the first or the last (exam semester) at the BFA and MFA level.

Deadline for applications is April 1 for the autumn semester (term dates September to mid-January) and October 1 for spring semester (term dates mid-January to beginning of June).

International exchanges, Fine Arts

The Fine Art unit has International Exchanges at both the BA- and MA level. The primarly language of instruction at the BA-level is Swedish. Exchange students can choose to take part in the regular education offered or work on independent projects with tutoring, as well as critical discussion seminars in a mixed language environment (Swedish/English). We also offer the possibilty to exhibit work in our student galleries.

How do I submit my application?

  1. Please use the MoveOn electronic application form to register your application: MoveOn application form
  2. A nomination letter sent by your International coordinator to Camilla Alvhage coordinator at the Valand Academy. NB! The application will not be taken info consideration withour the nomination.

Course structure

Valand Academy might have a course structure that is different from your home institution. Please note that the Valand Academy only uses the two grade scale Pass or Fail.
