Information meeting for newcomers with refugee background

Research profile seminar

To support newcomers in Sweden and to improve access and participation in higher education, the University of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology and Arbetsförmedlingen, in collaboration with Integrationscentrum, invite prospective students with refugee status to an introductory and information meeting.

The meetings are primarily intended for newcomers with refugee background who have completed upper secondary and/or have started university studies. Many experience the Swedish education system, application and admission processes to higher education as complicated. These information meetings aim to facilitate decision making and the design of a personal plan regarding the different pathways into higher education and/or the labor market.

Those who are interested in pursuing university studies are also offered further information and guidance in the form of coordinated follow-up individual or group sessions that can be booked at the end of the meeting.

Lecturer: Catherine Gillo Nilsson, widening access and participation coordinator at the University of Gothenburg, Birgitta Everås, Employment Officer, and Lena Lundström, Chalmers University of Technology.
