Anna Linder's 'Spermwhore' at Umeå European Film Festival 2016

News: Nov 15, 2016

Artist, curator and researcher at Valand Academy Anna Linder will be screening her short film Spermwhore at the Umeå European Film Festival (UEFF) organized by the Folkets Bio Umeå in Umeå, Sweden from November 22 – 27, 2016.

Spermwhore is a queer experimenta film about unwanted childlessness in a world where normative heterosexual relationships dictate who can become parents and in what way. After the film screening there will be a talk together with two collaborators from the film - Hanna Högstedt, performer, and Anna Linder, director, producer and performer. Spermwhore will be screened under the theme of Queer filmmaking at the film festival.

Artist and curator Anna Linder was born and raised in Storuman. She works primarily in the field of moving images, and her films, videos and installations have been shown internationally, including at the ICA London; the Swedish Institute, Paris; Konstakuten, Moderna Museet och Historiska museet, Stockholm; Borås Konstmuseum; Tribeca Film Festival, New York; Palm Springs International Short Film Festival; Arsenal Experimental, Berlin, among others.

Her current research ‘Queer Moving Images and the Fragility and Temporality of Their Existence - Curatorial and artistic issues on moving images in a queer context’ at Valand Academy investigates queer and feminist moving images, a film culture that is often rendered invisible in, and written out of, contexts such as film history, archives and exhibitions.
